Focus on Language Learning

Thank you for your prayers for the Koonces and Crowsons transition from Togo to Rwanda! God continues to bless our transition as we finish up our third month in Rwanda.

The Koonces and Crowsons are making many Rwandan friends and are deep into language study. Pictured above is Felix teaching Kinyarwanda using powerpoint. It's challenging, but with the Lord's blessing we will continue to move forward! Pray that the Lord would bless us with language ability, courage and perseverance!

Robinson Family

Welcome from the Robinson family.  I am honored to be welcoming you to the first edition of the Rwanda Harvest e-newsletter.  I have been blessed, as many of you have been, by the Tabligbo Times and it's amazing to find ourselves on this side of the newsletter.

For those of you who have been following the Tabligbo Times you will recognize immediately that we are new to this team.  Kristin and I are living in Tyler, TX, along with our four wonderful children,  where I am currently practicing medicine.

We have had a heart for missions for many years and the pull on our hearts has been strong.  It was a year ago in a small private meeting that I first shared with Marty the desire to finally submit to God’s calling.  I will never forget that day and I praise God for his perfect timing.

We are in the process of packing our belongings and have just placed our house on the market.  I can honestly say that one of the biggest challenges of my life is trying to keep a house clean enough to show potential buyers while 4 kids are doing their best to do just the opposite.  I don’t have to tell you that they are winning!   We are about five months from our move to Rwanda, and can’t wait to see how God is going to use us in His work.

Crowson Family

Bonjour from Rwanda! We are so excited to begin to share with you the amazing things that the Lord is doing in Rwanda!

This week marks the end of our third month here in Kigali. In the beginning life was pretty hectic but now things have settled down quite a bit.

Christine and I are in a daily Kinyarwanda language study routine.  In addition, we are both helping out with English classes for Rwandans.  The boys are half way through their first semester at KICS (Kigali International Community School) and loving it.  They have adjusted well and made many new friends.   Our "stuff" has arrived from Togo and the paperwork to clear it through customs is in "process".

Thank you for your faithful and persistent prayers for our family and for the nation of Rwanda. Our hearts' cry is that the Lord would ignite a revival in this land so powerful and far reaching that millions of lives will be healed and saved. Join us as we cry out to the Lord to destroy the devil's work and restore the glory due His Name!

Koonce Family

After an eleven year visit to Togo, we have made our journey with the Crowsons across the continent to Rwanda. God has been gracious to us through the first three months of transition.

He has provided us with a house that fully meets the needs of our family. We have generously been provided with the funds to purchase a good condition, used vehicle. The boys have made it half way through a semester of school at an international school. They have made new friends, have performed in a talent show and have been helping the Taekwondo class.

Louise has been able to help and consequently learn a lot from Nancy Shewmaker at the quilting class. There are eight Rwandan women enrolled in the class and are learning a sewing skill that will help them develop sales businesses. As well, Louise is teaching two Middle School art classes at the international school where the boys are students. Marty is engaged in classes being held for Rwandans wanting to learn and improve their English.

Both Marty and Louise are taking Kinyarwanda classes daily, hoping to deepen and begin language skills respectively. In the coming weeks, our greatest concerns are getting our container of possessions released from the customs authority and submitting our work visa applications.

Miller Family

Hello from the Millers!  We are so thankful for your interest in our lives and in what God is doing both in Togo and Rwanda.  We have spent the past 9 years planting churches and training leaders among the Kabiye people of Togo, West Africa, where we continue to live and work today.

God has been moving in amazing ways among the Kabiye to begin a movement of people to Jesus, and we have been privileged to be a part of what he has done.

At the same time, God has made it clear to our family that he desires for us continue our service in Africa working among the people of the Musanze region of northwest Rwanda.

For the next two years or so, we will be working to further train the Kabiye leaders that God has brought into our lives and to mentor several new missionary families whom God has brought to Togo to continue the work here.  We anticipate coming to a place in our training of the Kabiye leaders over the next couple of years that will allow us to transition naturally into a new work. We will also be working to help establish our new teammates in ministries to other unreached areas of Kabiye land.

We would appreciate your prayers for discernment and wisdom from God as we work out the details of these years of transition between Togo and Rwanda.  We are specifically seeking wisdom concerning how to best honor both of the callings that God has placed upon our hearts--establishing the work among the Kabiye and beginning a new work in Rwanda.

You can keep up with the details of our work among the Kabiye through our family website www.togoadventures.net or by signing up for our Kabyie Team News e-newsletter by visiting http://harvestfields.net/enews.php.

Reeves Family

Greetings from the Reeves family.  We are so pleased to know that so many of you will be staying informed about the work of God in Rwanda.  We are also thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful team of families who will be doing God’s work in Rwanda.

As you may know, our family has not yet moved to Rwanda.  We are in a time of transition as we finish our part of God’s work in Togo among the Kabiye people.  We will continue to minister among the Kabiye and as a part of our team here until at least the summer of 2010.

Our timeline for when we will leave Togo and transition to Rwanda is not yet finalized. Our hope is to arrive in Rwanda by the fall of 2011.  Many factors go into this decision including our overseeing congregation, goals we hope to accomplish before leaving here, time of sabbatical in the states, and desires of our teammates both in Rwanda, Togo, and our families and stateside team.

Please pray for us, as a family, to have increasing faith and peace as we await God’s timing for us over the next few years.  May God’s blessings be yours in Christ Jesus.

Team Prayer Needs

Revival

Join us as we pray for a massive and far reaching revival that would heal this land and bring millions into the Kingdom!

Team Transitions

The Crowsons and Koonces are settling into Kigali. The Robinsons are preparing to move to Rwanda in August. The Millers and Reeves are praying and planning for their transition to Rwanda in a couple years to come. Please ask the Lord to bless all of us as we move and settle into life and ministry in Rwanda. Please pray for each family by name as we are all in different phases of this transition.

Language Study

Please ask the Lord to bless our language studies so that we can be fluent in the heart language of all Rwandans!

Container

The Lord blessed the shipping of the Koonces' and Crowsons' household belongings from Togo and everything arrived safely in Rwanda. However, the paperwork to clear the container is taking a long time. There is one signature needed to release our goods to us tax-free. Pray that the Lord would send His Word from heaven and move hearts so that the container can be cleared through customs!
